A special course in model theory by Mikhail Taitslin, a Soviet mathematician whose work spanned algebra, mathematical logic, and the theoretical foundations of computer science, later chairing the Informatics department at Tver State University. The course opens with the classical apparatus of model theory as consolidated by the Tarski school in the 1950s and 1960s: algebraic systems, first-order predicate logic, and elementary subsystems, before moving to ultraproducts, the compactness theorem, universally axiomatizable classes, and regular products, and concluding with a chapter on Johnson's conditions, examples, metric spaces, and elementary types. As issue 6 in the Chair of Algebra and Mathematical Logic's internal library series, it stands alongside Kokorin's work on orderable groups, Merzlyakov's and Kargapolov's foundational texts on group theory, Ershov's "Numbering Theory," and Lavrov's "Logic and Algorithms" issue 7, together constituting the core research and teaching corpus of the Novosibirsk school of algebra and logic founded around Anatoly Maltsev in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Printed on the university rotaprint press in a run of only 600 copies for internal circulation among specialists, original printings of any issue in this series are scarce outside institutional holdings.
