Karlo Kaladze (1904-1988) was a prominent Georgian poet and playwright, known for his lyrical agility and early association with the Georgian avant-garde and proletarian literary movements. The title invokes the ancient Khertvisi Fortress, symbolizing Georgian historical resilience.
