A major scholarly monograph on the sixteenth-century Ottoman poet Ruhi Bagdadi, authored by Elizbar Javelidze, a prominent historian and translator within the Georgian academic tradition. This work remains a critical study of Ruhi's life, philosophical outlook, and lyric poetry, drawing on extensive archival research conducted at the Institute of Oriental Studies in Tbilisi under the editorial supervision of the patriarch of Georgian Turkology, Sergi Jikia. The book's provenance is of exceptional interest: it is an association copy gifted by Javelidze to his mentor, the influential orientalist and Ottoman historian Giorgi Puturidze (1927-1981). The inscription, addressed to "my teacher," provides intimate evidence of the collaborative intellectual environment that characterized the peak years of the Georgian Oriental Studies Institute. With an original print run of only 1,000 copies, this first edition is a scarce academic imprint.
