Complete with three original autolithographs by Lanceray (printed with an additional greenish tone) and three line-drawn headpieces (head of an Armenian woman on the title page, profile of an old man on p. 10, Tatev Monastery on p. 14).
The artist's presentation inscription in brown ink on the title page: "To a young artist and my talented pupil, in memory of this exhibition. E. Lanceray. 20 February 1927," dated to the opening of the Tbilisi showing of the exhibition.
Wrappers good: age-toning, edge wear with small chips, tears at the spine. Text block good: complete, with all three autolithographs and headpieces present.

A scarce and desirable signed catalogue documenting the ethnographic expedition to Zangezur undertaken in the summer of 1926 by Evgeny Lanceray, one of the leading figures of the Mir iskusstva (World of Art) movement, nephew of Alexandre Benois and brother of Zinaida Serebriakova. Having settled in Tbilisi after the Civil War, Lanceray taught at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts, becoming dean of its painting faculty in 1926; that summer, at the invitation of A. Karinyan and on behalf of the State Museum of Armenia, he became the first professional artist to accompany a mission into the remote Zangezur highlands, spending some eight weeks travelling through Nakhichevan, Goris, Tatev, Khndzoresk, Kapan, Sisian, Lake Sevan, Dilijan, and neighbouring sites, and producing around a hundred works recording landscapes, medieval monasteries, rural architecture, costume, crafts, and local people. The resulting exhibition, delayed by the destructive October 1926 earthquake, opened at the State Museum of Armenia on 22 December 1926, with further showings in Tbilisi and Baku in 1927. The catalogue lists sixty-six paintings and studies alongside album pages, accompanied by Lanceray's own extended field notes, and is illustrated with three original autolithographs printed in a greenish tint and three line headpieces. Only 400 copies were printed in Russian. The present copy is inscribed by Lanceray to one of his pupils and dated to the Tbilisi opening, making it a documented association copy uniting the artist's teaching circle with his most significant Armenian project. It will appeal to collectors of Caucasica and Armenica, Mir iskusstva graphics, original early-Soviet prints, and signed association material.
