A primary source publication of exceptional scarcity, prepared by Larisa Timofeevna Senchakova of the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and printed in-house at the Institute's own press on Dmitry Ulyanov Street in Moscow. The publication gathers and edits peasant "prigovory" and "nakazy" from the central provinces of European Russia, dated to the revolutionary years 1905-1907. These documents - collective resolutions, petitions, and mandates drawn up by peasant assemblies and directed to government institutions, the State Duma, or political parties - constitute one of the most direct and least mediated records of peasant political consciousness and agrarian demands during the First Russian Revolution. Their content encompasses demands for land redistribution, abolition of private landownership, reform of local administration, and broader constitutional change, and they reveal the internal differentiation of peasant political opinion across different gubernias. First Part of a two-part publication. The "prigovory" and "nakazy" of 1905-1907 have occupied a central place in debates on the nature of the Russian peasant revolutionary movement, the agrarian question, and the social base of the revolution since Moisei Yakovlevich Gershenzon's pioneering collections of the early Soviet period; Senchakova's 1994 publication represents the first systematic renewed scholarly engagement with this documentary tradition since the opening of Soviet archives. Printed in an edition of 300 copies without commercial distribution. Of interest to specialists in the First Russian Revolution, the agrarian history of late Imperial Russia, peasant political movements, and the history of Russian documentary publishing.
