Condition good: the publisher's cloth binding is well-preserved with bright gilt lettering on the front board and spine; minor rubbing to the corners and spine ends. The text block is firm and clean, with mild age-toning to the paper, free of institutional stamps.

A fundamental theoretical work by Academician Ivan Meshchaninov (1883–1967), a towering figure in Soviet linguistics. Building upon (and later subtly reforming) the controversial theories of his mentor Nikolai Marr, Meshchaninov devoted this major 1945 monograph to the typological and syntactic analysis of sentence structure across diverse language families. This work earned him the Stalin Prize and cemented his status as the leading Soviet linguist of the mid-20th century.
