Abulqasem Lahuti (1887-1957) was a prominent Iranian-Tajik poet and political activist whose life and work dramatically bridged the classical Persian literary tradition and Soviet revolutionary culture. Fleeing Iran after participating in an unsuccessful uprising, Lahuti eventually settled in the Soviet Union, becoming a foundational figure in modern Tajik literature and a highly celebrated poet across the USSR. This 1937 edition, published by Goslitizdat at the height of the Stalinist era, gathers his selected long narrative poems (poemy), translated from Farsi into Russian. The volume is designed with distinctive Eastern motifs, featuring bright decorative geometric endpapers and an ornate stamped cloth binding typical of high-quality 1930s Soviet publications representing the national republics.
