An interuniversity collection of papers in algebra and model theory issued from Irkutsk State University under the chief editorship of Alexander Kokorin, whose own monograph on orderable groups had opened the founding volume of the Novosibirsk State University's Chair of Algebra and Mathematical Logic library series in 1966; his editorship here traces the spread of the Maltsev-Novosibirsk algebraic tradition to other Siberian universities. The nine papers address semi-homogeneously lattice-ordered groups (Bludov and Kokorin), elementary theories of abelian p-groups with element heights (Vasilyev), classes of hyperimmune sets (Degtev), elementary theories of graphs and abelian loops (Keselman), elimination of equality in the theory of abelian groups with distinguished subgroups (Divchak), decidability of the theory of complete torsion-free abelian groups of finite rank (Martyanov), ultrapowers in continuous logic (Murzin), algorithmic questions in number theory (Yu. G. Penzin), the undecidability of the elementary theory of integers with addition and a coprimality predicate (Yu. I. Penzin), and scattered sets and embeddings of linear orderings (Pinus), with a closing section of author abstracts. Printed in a run of only 500 copies for interuniversity circulation among specialists in algebra and mathematical logic, such collections rarely surface outside institutional holdings.
