This 1934 volume is the third and concluding part of the monumental series "Heroic Epic," which comprehensively documented the dramatic expedition of the steamship "Chelyuskin" and its legendary rescue operation. While the first two volumes contained the accounts of the expedition members themselves, this book presents the first-hand narratives of the seven pilots who performed the aerial evacuation, including the first Heroes of the Soviet Union A.V. Lyapidevsky and S.A. Levanevsky. The stories, from the initial discovery of the camp on March 5 to the final flight on April 13, 1934, served as a powerful testament to Soviet courage, technology, and collective spirit during the height of Stalinist propaganda. The publication is distinguished by its exceptionally high-quality artistic design, overseen by masters of Soviet book graphics such as S. Telingater and D. Bazhanov. With its striking binding design by F. Reshetnikov, color illustrations, and maps, this volume is not only a primary historical source but also a significant artifact of 1930s Soviet publishing and propaganda art.
