A scarce lifetime edition of the romantic poem "Kaltetri da Sirinozi" (The White Maiden and the Siren) by Irodion Evdoshvili (1873-1916), a prominent figure in early twentieth-century Georgian literature. Born Irodion Khoshtaria, Evdoshvili was deeply involved in the Georgian national and social-democratic movements, often employing his poetry as a vehicle for civic activism and romantic idealism. This particular poem stands out in his oeuvre for its pronounced symbolist and romantic overtones, weaving a mythological narrative that contrasts earthly purity with maritime temptation. Published in 1912 in Tbilisi by the "Ganatleba" (Education) editorial group and printed at the S. Losaberidze press, the booklet features a striking photographic portrait of the author on its front wrapper. Pre-revolutionary Georgian literary paperbacks of this era are notably fragile and were rarely preserved in institutional archives or private collections due to the turbulent decades that followed their publication.
