Dargins Folklore (Darguli p'olk'lori).
Compiled by: Fatima Abakarova. Editor-in-Chief: Naira Gelashvili. Translated by: Lia Chaladze.
Tbilisi: Kavkasiuri Sakhli (Caucasian House), 1999.
Title and text in Georgian and Russian.
This volume is a bilingual (Georgian and Russian) collection of folklore from the Dargin people, one of the indigenous ethnic groups of Dagestan in the North Caucasus. Compiled by Fatima Abakarova, edited by Naira Gelashvili, and translated by Lia Chaladze, the book was published in 1999 by the "Caucasian House" publishing house in Tbilisi. This publication represents a significant effort in the post-Soviet period to document, preserve, and make accessible the rich oral traditions of the Caucasus region. By presenting the material in parallel Georgian and Russian texts, the edition serves both a local and a wider Russophone academic and cultural audience. It is a valuable resource for ethnographers, folklorists, linguists, and anyone interested in the diverse cultural heritage of the Caucasus.
