This is a rare and highly illustrative Soviet publication on sports wrestling, authored by Nikolai Nikitich Sorokin, a Master of Sports in Greco-Roman wrestling, Honored Coach of the RSFSR, and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences. Published in 1955, the book serves as a comprehensive visual textbook for classical (Greco-Roman) wrestling, detailing essential techniques, defenses, and counter-techniques in standing positions, on the ground (parterre), and from the bridge position. It was compiled based on the approved training program for wrestling sections and the official textbook "Sport Wrestling" (1953) . The instructional value of the book is greatly enhanced by numerous photographic sequences (kinograms) featuring top Soviet wrestlers of the era demonstrating the moves. These include Honored Master of Sports Valery Anisimov, Master of Sports B. Yakovlev, and first-category wrestlers V. Baklykov, N. Bandurin, V. Gulyaev, V. Shein, and A. Shirshakov. Designed for coaches, instructors, and wrestlers of all experience levels, this large-format album, with graphic design by V. N. Lazarevskaya, is a significant artifact of Soviet physical culture and sports pedagogy in the post-war period.
