In good condition.

A substantial working library of the Russian translation of Nicolas Bourbaki's "Éléments de mathématique," the collective pseudonym of the group of predominantly French mathematicians whose austerely axiomatic, structure-first exposition reshaped the presentation of pure mathematics across the twentieth century. Spanning translations issued over nearly a quarter-century, from the 1963 "Elements of the History of Mathematics" to the 1987 chapter on homological algebra, the set traces the full arc of the Soviet reception of Bourbaki, and its roster of editors reads as a who's who of the leading Soviet mathematical school: Yuri Manin edited both algebra volumes at the outset of his career; Alexey Kostrikin, the foremost Soviet specialist in Lie theory and ring theory, oversaw both the Lie groups volume and the concluding homological algebra chapter; Dmitri Raikov, a leading functional analyst, edited both topology volumes; Sergei Stechkin, a prominent approximation theorist, edited the integration volume; and Vladimir Uspensky, a founding figure of Soviet mathematical logic and later of Moscow's tradition of popular mathematical writing, edited the foundational set theory volume. Together the nine volumes cover set theory, three books of algebra spanning basic structures through polynomials, ordered groups, and homological methods, two books of general topology, measure and integration theory, the theory of Lie groups and Lie algebras through root systems, and Bourbaki's own account of the history of mathematics - effectively a working reference library for research-level pure mathematics in the Bourbaki tradition, of substantial interest to mathematicians and historians of the discipline.
