Anton Stepanovich Arensky (1861–1906): Russian composer, pianist, and pedagogue, professor at Moscow Conservatory. A pupil of Rimsky-Korsakov and teacher of Rachmaninoff and Scriabin, known for chamber, piano, and vocal works marked by melodic grace and elegance.
Aleksey Nikolaevich Apukhtin (1840–1893): Russian poet whose lyrical verses inspired composers, including Tchaikovsky and Arensky. His poem "A Year in the Monastery" is a cycle of emotionally rich verses.
