A rare first edition of a highly important textual variant of Mikhail Lermontov's iconic poem "The Demon," known as the Yerevan Manuscript. This version was discovered in 1939 by scholar K. A. Stepanyan in the archive of Armenian scholar H. I. Kuchuk-Ovanesyan. Although the manuscript is dated February 25, 1842, textual analysis indicates it represents an earlier Caucasian redaction of the poem, preceding the well-known "Lopukhin list" of September 8, 1838. Published in 1941 with an introductory study by leading Lermontov scholars, this facsimile-style edition holds significant value for the study of the poet's creative process and the poem's evolution. The small print run and wartime publication context make it a bibliographic rarity.
