The publication of this treatise led to a split and crisis in the Musaget circle. In 1913, when Ellis, disillusioned with Steiner and having come to the conclusion that "in Russia theosophy is unthinkable, occultism is dangerous, and what is needed is culture, culture and culture", he wrote an anti-theosophical pamphlet "Vigilemus!" Bely protests violently against the printing of this "pasquinade", but the members of the literary committee vote in favor of publication by three votes (Kiselev, Medtner, Rachinsky) against two (Bely, Petrovsky), and Bely, Petrovsky and Sizov leave "Musaget".
Lev Kobylinsky (pseudonym Ellis, 1879-1947) - symbolist poet, translator, and one of the founders of the symbolist publishing house "Musaget".
