Muratsan (real name Grigor Ter-Hovhannisyan, 1854–1908) was an Armenian writer, dramatist, prose writer, a classic of Armenian literature. S. Umaryan was a literary scholar and editor.
The 1957 Yerevan edition of Muratsan's historical novel "Gevorg Marzpetuni." Written in 1896, the novel is considered one of the masterpieces of Armenian historical prose and recounts the events of 10th-century Armenia, the heroism of Ashot II the Iron and Gevorg Marzpetuni. This edition, which belongs to the canonical series of Armenian literature from the Soviet period, holds significant cultural value.
