The second issue of the weekly satirical journal "The Horsewhip," published in 1905–1906. The publication positioned itself as an "organ of independent thought" and contained sharp criticism of the political system. The journal was short-lived: only 5 issues were published. The fourth and fifth issues were confiscated by the authorities (the fifth was seized directly at the printing house), after which editor A.F. Ivanov was arrested and the printing house was closed. This issue is a rare surviving copy of a publication whose fate vividly illustrates the harsh suppression of the free press in late 1905 and early 1906.
