This rare post-war academic monograph offers a detailed socio-political and legal analysis of medieval Georgia through the lens of Shota Rustaveli’s twelfth-century epic masterpiece, The Knight in the Panther's Skin (Vepkhistkaosni). Written by the scholar G. Soselia (Georgiy Kutievich Soselia), the study methodically dissects the societal structures, state apparatus, feudal hierarchies, and legal concepts embedded within the poem to reconstruct the historical reality of Georgia's Golden Age. The work explores fundamental themes such as the system of lord-vassal relations (patronqmoba), slavery and servitude, the societal status of women, concepts of friendship and courtly love, and the overarching legal and state organizations of the era. Published in Sokhumi by the Abkhazian State Publishing House (Abgosizdat / Abkhazetis Sakhelgami) in 1956, this volume represents a significant milestone in Soviet Rustavelian scholarship (vepkhistkaosniseba).
