Otar Mamporia (1924-1980) was a distinguished Georgian poet whose work emerged prominently during the post-war Soviet period, known for its lyricism, patriotic themes, and deep connection to the Georgian landscape. Published in 1960 by the "Sabchota Sakartvelo" press, this collection, simply titled "Leksebi" (Poems), captures the essence of his mid-career poetic output. The book is an excellent example of Khrushchev Thaw-era book design, featuring a strikingly modernist dust jacket with bold, geometric color blocking and stylized landscape elements designed by I. Janashvili. Beneath the jacket, the hardcover itself displays a refined blind-stamped botanical motif and gilt lettering. Issued in a small print run of just 2,000 copies, surviving volumes from this era that retain their original, fragile dust jackets are highly uncommon on the international antiquarian market. This specific copy is distinguished by the author's autograph on the front free endpaper, dated just months after the book's publication. It transforms this well-preserved volume into a desirable association copy for collectors of twentieth-century Caucasian literature.
