A scarce issue of the Ural State University's mathematical proceedings, printed in a run of only 500 copies and circulated almost entirely within the Soviet academic mathematical community. The volume is a central document of the Ural school of group theory built around Pyotr Grigoryevich Kontorovich, whose work on the lattice theory of subgroups shaped Soviet algebra from the 1940s onward; he appears here both as editor of the volume and as the signer of this particular copy. The issue opens with S. P. Azletsky's survey "On the Factorization of Finite Groups, II," a continuation of his 1950-1959 review, covering the inverse problem of factorization for finite groups and related structural questions, material of central interest to specialists in the algebraic theory of groups. The editor's own signed copy gives the volume an association interest beyond the text alone despite its incompleteness, situating it within the personal circulation of the Ural algebraic school itself.
