An early 1920s edition of Alexander Pushkin's narrative poems, published in Berlin by the prominent Russian emigre publisher I. P. Ladyzhnikov. Following the 1917 Revolution, Berlin became the preeminent center for Russian diaspora publishing, and Ladyzhnikov's press played a crucial role in supplying classic Russian literature to the newly displaced population. This volume gathers three of Pushkin's celebrated narrative works: "Count Nulin" (Graf Nulin), a brilliant parody of Shakespeare's "The Rape of Lucrece"; "The Little House in Kolomna" (Domik v Kolomne), an experimental poem written in octaves; and "Angelo", a verse adaptation of Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure".
