An indispensable and structurally significant philological reference work for Caucasian linguistics, this reverse dictionary of the Georgian language was compiled under the leadership of the prominent Georgian philologist Bidzina Pochkhua (1910-1983) and edited alongside the noted academic lexicographer Mikheil Chabashvili. Published under the auspices of the Arnold Chikobava Institute of Linguistics of the Academy of Sciences of the Georgian SSR, the lexicon uses as its structural baseline the authoritative eight-volume "Explanatory Dictionary of the Georgian Language" (Kartuli enis ganmartebiti leksikoni). By reversing the entire word corpus and alphabetizing entries from the final letter to the first, this work serves as an essential analytical apparatus for structural morphophonology, historical-comparative Caucasian grammar, and the rigorous study of end-rhymes, word-formation suffixes, and verbal stem configurations. Given the complex agglutinative and polypersonal nature of Georgian morphology, such reverse indexing is critical for lexicographical decoding. Issued in a restricted academic print run of only 1,000 copies, this large quarto volume is naturally scarce.
