This rare musical publication from the 1920s features romances by Soviet composer Kalman (Nikolai) Kheifets set to the verse of the famous poet Igor Severyanin, a leading figure of Russian Egofuturism. Published in Rostov-on-Don during the New Economic Policy (NEP) era by the "Muzpred" association, this four-page score exemplifies the vibrant and decentralized cultural production of the time. The work combines Heifetz's musical language, rooted in the late Romantic tradition yet shaped by early Soviet modernity, with the melodious, extravagant, and imagistic poetry characteristic of Severyanin. As a product of a regional state printing house with a very limited print run of 500 copies, this sheet music is a valuable artifact of Soviet musical and literary history, capturing a specific moment of collaboration between a composer and a poet from the Silver Age transitioning into the Soviet epoch.
