A charming and beautifully illustrated Soviet children's book by Anna Kardashova, featuring the vivid artwork of Gleb Bedarev. Published by "Malysh" in 1970, the story follows the adventures of a young Italian boy named Tonio who performs various "heroic" and endearing deeds to convince his mother that he is responsible enough to keep a stray dog named Palma. Bedarev's expressive illustrations—alternating between striking full-color spreads and dynamic monochrome drawings—wonderfully capture the lively, sun-drenched atmosphere of Italian city streets and the emotional journey of the young protagonist. The use of bold, graphic textures and stylized mid-century forms makes this book a standout example of Soviet children's book design of the era. Preserved in good condition in its original stiff cardboard covers, this large-format edition is an excellent acquisition for collectors of vintage children's literature, dog stories, and Soviet graphic arts.
