This 1924 Leningrad edition is an early Soviet translation of the unique epistolary novel "The Kempton-Wace Letters," a philosophical debate on love and marriage conducted through letters between the young writer Anna Stronskaya and the already famous Jack London. Published in the popular "Library of Foreign Literature" series by the "Mysl" publishing house, this translation by D. P. Nosovich made this lesser-known but intellectually charged work by London accessible to the Russian public. The edition is distinguished by its original illustrated cover designed by the artist Yuri Cherkesov, a student of Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin. As a product of the vibrant publishing culture of the NEP era, this compact volume represents the Soviet engagement with complex themes in Western literature and is a collectible artifact of 1920s book design.
