The sixth and last number of 1906 of the leading scholarly periodical of Ukrainian Galicia, issued in Lviv under the editorship of Mykhailo Hrushevsky. By this date the Zapysky appeared six times a year, each number carrying its own volume number, and they served as the main forum for Ukrainian history, philology and ethnography. This number opens with a dedication to Volodymyr Antonovych, "the Nestor of Ukrainian historiography", on the occasion of his jubilee, accompanied by a portrait plate after Ivan Trush. The articles include Hrushevsky on the career of Metropolitan Onysyfor Divochka, Vadym Shcherbakivskyi on Ukrainian wooden churches and their types, illustrated with 26 plans and drawings, the fourth part of Filaret Kolessa's study of the rhythm of Ukrainian folk songs, Oleksandr Hrushevsky on Ukrainian cultural and scientific life in the mid-nineteenth century, and Mykhailo Zubrytskyi's village monograph on Mshanets with its documents. The number is completed by Miscellanea with contributions by Volodymyr Shchurat, Vladimir Peretts and Ivan Franko, a scientific chronicle with the conclusion of the survey of periodicals for 1905, and a bibliography section. The title, contents and imprint are printed in pre-reform Ukrainian orthography, with a German parallel title and table of contents. This copy is bound by an earlier owner in cloth, with the original printed wrapper preserved by pasting it onto the front board, and it carries library shelfmarks.
