A highly important and comprehensive exhibition catalog summarizing the rapid development and achievements of Soviet graphic arts during the first post-revolutionary decade. The editorial board and contributing authors comprised the leading art historians, critics, and graphic artists of the 1920s, including E. F. Gollerbakh, V. V. Voinov, D. I. Mitrokhin, and I. D. Galaktionov. The volume provides deep analytical coverage of book illustration, bookplates, posters, and industrial printing, making it an indispensable primary source for researchers of the Russian avant-garde and constructivist book design. Visually, the book is a fine example of 1920s Soviet aesthetic, featuring a striking cover by M. Kirnarsky, initial letters by S. Vidberg, and in-text illustrations such as G. Vereisky's autolithograph. It also features tipped-in color plates and wonderful vintage typography advertisements. Issued in a strictly limited print run of 2,000 copies, working catalogs of this era were heavily used and are exceptionally rare to find in such a clean, intact condition with their fragile paper wrappers fully preserved.
