A wonderful 1935 piano transcription of the famous "Dance of the Soviet Sailors" (based on the popular Russian folk tune "Yablochko") from Reinhold Glière's landmark ballet "The Red Poppy". Premiered in 1927, "The Red Poppy" was the very first Soviet ballet with a modern revolutionary theme, and this specific sailors' dance quickly became its most universally recognized and frequently performed excerpt.
