This is a rare scholarly edition of the Middle Persian (Pahlavi) text Kār-Nāmag ī Ardašīr ī Pābagān (The Book of the Deeds of Ardashir, Son of Papag), a Sassanian-era prose epic about the founder of the Sassanid Empire. The work was translated into Georgian, meticulously researched, and supplemented with a dictionary by the prominent Georgian orientalist Teo Chkheidze, under the editorship of J. Giunashvili. Published in 1975 by the Academy of Sciences of the Georgian SSR as part of the output of the G. Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies, this volume represents a significant contribution of Soviet Georgian scholarship to Iranian studies and the study of ancient Near Eastern literature. Its extremely limited print run of 800 copies makes it a bibliographic rarity, essential for specialists in Persian philology, Caucasian oriental studies, and the reception of Iranian epic traditions.
