This set is distinguished by its artistic design, including bindings and title pages by the renowned illustrator Dmitry Mitrokhin, and features numerous illustrations reproduced from the French “Édition Nationale.” Edited with an introduction by A. K. Vinogradov, this edition represents the high standards of Soviet literary translation and book design in the early 1930s. The loss of the original dust jackets is a common fate for these well-read volumes.
