Very rare.
A foundational and very rare first edition of this pioneering ethnomusicological study, representing one of the first systematic attempts to document, analyze, and publish the folk music of Turkmenistan. Commissioned by the People's Commissariat for Education of the Turkmen SSR and published by the State Musical Sector in Moscow in 1928, this substantial volume combines scholarly articles with a collection of 115 transcribed musical pieces. Richly illustrated and including a map, it is a landmark publication of early Soviet cultural policy, which actively promoted the study and preservation of the musical heritage of the USSR's national republics. This copy has undergone professional restoration, preserving its significant scholarly content.
