Fifth edition (published within two years) of one of Ivan Shukhov’s (1906–1977) most famous novels, written immediately after collectivization and depicting class struggle in the Siberian village. Together with The Bitter Line (1931), it brought the author nationwide recognition and remains a significant example of early 1930s Soviet industrial prose.
