A classic and foundational work by the outstanding German linguist Johannes Friedrich, published for the first time in Russian. This grammar was one of the first and for a long time remained the primary textbook for the study of the Hittite language in Soviet and Russian science. The translation was made by the renowned linguist A.V. Desnitskaya, and the scholarly editing was carried out by the leading Soviet orientalist, Academician V.V. Struve.

The book contains a systematic presentation of the grammar of the Hittite language – the most important language of ancient Asia Minor, belonging to the Anatolian group of the Indo-European family. This publication played a key role in the development of Hittitology in Russia and still retains its historical and scientific value. It is of great interest to Indo-European linguists, historians of the Ancient Near East, and anyone studying ancient languages.
