This anniversary issue of one of the world's leading physics journals was prepared by a group of eminent Soviet scientists. Among the authors of the articles are academicians and leading specialists: theorist Vitaly Lazarevich Ginzburg (1916–2009), historian of science Vladimir Pavlovich Vizgin (b. 1936), theoretical physicist Yakov Abramovich Smorodinsky (1917–1992), and others. All of them made significant contributions to the development of relativity and quantum physics, continuing and advancing Einstein's ideas.
The issue is entirely dedicated to the centenary of Albert Einstein's birth. It contains review articles analyzing his key contributions to the creation of relativity and quantum theory, the current state of experimental verification of general relativity, as well as historical, scientific, and philosophical aspects of his work. The publication represents a valuable compendium of knowledge, reflecting the understanding and development of Einstein's legacy in Soviet physics of the late 1970s.
