Nikolai Vasilyevich Savelyev (1924–1999) was a Soviet physics educator, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, associate professor, author of one of the most famous and popular courses in general physics for higher educational institutions. His textbooks, distinguished by their systematic approach, clarity of exposition, and careful selection of material, became a classic of physics education in the USSR and Russia.
The course is a fundamental three-volume textbook covering all major sections of general physics: mechanics, molecular physics, electricity, optics, atomic and nuclear physics. The edition was revised and reprinted multiple times, attesting to its high pedagogical value and demand.
