The preprint is devoted to the technique and results of producing monochromatic gamma quanta (hard photons) on an electron storage ring. The work examines the process of inverse Compton scattering of laser radiation on relativistic electrons, which allows the generation of intense, narrow-energy beams of high-energy photons. It describes the experimental setup, measurement techniques, and prospects for using such sources in nuclear and elementary particle physics research. The work reflects one of the advanced directions in the development of research infrastructure at the Institute of Nuclear Physics in the 1960s.
