Authored by the prominent critic and publicist Ipolite Vartagava (1870-1967), this booklet was published in 1928 as the inaugural issue of the independent \"Society of Lovers of Georgian Culture\" series. At the time of publication, Javakhishvili was at the height of his creative powers, having recently published masterpieces such as \"Kvachi Kvachantiradze\" and \"Jaqo's Dispossessed.\" Vartagava's critical review captures the vibrant, yet increasingly tense literary atmosphere of 1920s Tbilisi, before the absolute imposition of Socialist Realism. Tragically, Javakhishvili's independent spirit led to his arrest and execution during the Great Purge of 1937, after which his works were banned and removed from libraries for nearly two decades. Contemporary lifetime monographs dedicated to his writing are therefore exceptionally poignant and rare. Produced in a modest print run of 3,000 copies, fragile literary pamphlets of this era are seldom found intact. This well-preserved copy in its original paper wrappers is a highly desirable artifact for collectors of Caucasian literature, literary historiography, and Kartvelology.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Stanza Rare Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44530048270378,"sku":null,"price":100.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0701\/6359\/5306\/files\/IMG_6687.jpg?v=1783101759","url":"https:\/\/stanzararebooks.com\/products\/vartagava-the-creative-work-of-mikheil-javakhishvili-a-critical-review-mikheil-javakhishvilis-shemokmedeba-1928-in-georgian","provider":"Stanza Rare Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
