A close friend and correspondent of Boris Pasternak, who translated several of his poems into Russian, Tabidze was arrested in 1937 during the height of the Great Terror and executed the same year on fabricated charges; he was posthumously rehabilitated in 1954-1955, after which Soviet Georgian publishing gradually restored his work to print. This three-volume set, issued a decade into that rehabilitation, gathers for the first time in one edition his lyric poetry, narrative poems and prose miniatures (vol. 1), his critical and polemical writings on literature and the visual and performing arts of revolutionary-era Tbilisi (vol. 2), and his literary sketches together with his translations from other languages (vol. 3), edited by the poet Irakli Abashidze and prepared by Shalva Demetradze. Each volume carries a photographic portrait plate and the publisher's gilt-stamped facsimile of Tabidze's own signature stamped on the binding, a design gesture emphasizing the edition's status as a monument to a martyred poet restored to the canon. As the first comprehensive Soviet-era collected edition of one of the central figures of the Georgian Symbolist movement, the set is of substantial interest to collectors of twentieth-century Georgian literature and of the broader Caucasian avant-garde.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Stanza Rare Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44591853731882,"sku":null,"price":100.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0701\/6359\/5306\/files\/IMG_8989_8e3941f5-2d8c-4645-b67b-ba5084ac9034.jpg?v=1784324471","url":"https:\/\/stanzararebooks.com\/products\/tabidze-titsian-works-in-three-volumes-tkhzulebani-vol-1-3-tbilisi-1966-in-georgian","provider":"Stanza Rare Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
