Issued in 1948 in a very small print run of 1,400 copies and distributed without charge, this preliminary \"trial fascicle\" was circulated to scholars and institutions to solicit review and comment before the main work went to press; it sets out the lexicographical principles, sample entries, and editorial apparatus in a two-column format. The verso of the half-title lists the distinguished editorial commission, including academicians G. Akhvlediani, V. Kekelidze, V. Beridze, S. Iordanishvili, and others, with Chikobava as editor-in-chief. As a scarce, small-print-run specimen of a landmark Soviet-Georgian scholarly enterprise, and a presentation copy from the issuing commission, it is of significant interest to collectors of Georgian linguistics, Caucasian studies, and the history of Soviet-era lexicography.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Stanza Rare Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44529658789930,"sku":null,"price":200.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0701\/6359\/5306\/files\/IMG_6440.jpg?v=1783077204","url":"https:\/\/stanzararebooks.com\/products\/signed-explanatory-dictionary-of-the-georgian-language-trial-issue-chief-editor-arnold-chikobava-pre-first-edition-1948-in-georgian","provider":"Stanza Rare Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
