This monograph is the published version of her doctoral dissertation (Yekaterinburg, 1998), representing the first comprehensive database-driven analysis of private gold mining firms in Russia at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The study applies quantitative methods - including correlational models - to a database of Russian gold mining companies, and proceeds in five chapters: a historiographic and methodological survey; the geographic distribution and government policy contexts of Russian gold mining; gold mining production (dynamics, concentration, technical equipment, and firm-level economic characteristics with correlational models); the organization of gold mining entrepreneurship (evolution of company forms, bank credit, and foreign capital); and the gold mining industrialists as a social group (estate composition, capital origins, and the mental characteristics of the gold mining elite). Two regional models - the Urals and Siberia - are treated as contrasting cases of capitalist development in natural resource extraction, enabling a comparative economic-historical framework. The volume includes extensive notes, an English-language summary, and a substantial appendix. The editor is Veniamin Vasilyevich Alekseyev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Director of the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Ural Branch of RAS (1988-2005), one of Russia's leading historians of the Ural region and Russian economic history. \u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Stanza Rare Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44356235493418,"sku":null,"price":60.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0701\/6359\/5306\/files\/IMG_3711.jpg?v=1778718107","url":"https:\/\/stanzararebooks.com\/products\/sapogovskaia-l-private-gold-mining-industry-in-russia-at-the-turn-of-the-19th-20th-centuries-the-urals-and-siberia-models-of-development-chastnaia-zolotopromyshlennost-rossii-1998-in-russian","provider":"Stanza Rare Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
