In the 1930s, prior to the ideological freezes of the Cold War, early Disney animations were highly praised in the Soviet Union for their technical brilliance and were even screened at the 1935 Moscow Film Festival. The Soviet publishing apparatus, specifically Detizdat, produced these licensed or officially sanctioned adaptations. Mikhalkov brilliantly localized the story, famously giving the pigs the names Nif-Nif, Nuf-Nuf, and Naf-Naf, which became permanently embedded in Russian cultural memory. This 1937 third edition features the iconic Disney Studio line-art illustrations throughout the text, accompanied by full-color illustrated endpapers. Finding pre-WWII Soviet children's books in good condition is exceedingly difficult due to their intended audience and the destructive war years that followed. While the endpapers show some child's coloring in pink pencil, importantly, the internal black-and-white illustrations remain completely uncolored and pristine, making this a highly collectible artifact of 1930s Soviet-American cultural exchange and a prized piece of vintage Disneyana.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Stanza Rare Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44538451918890,"sku":null,"price":260.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0701\/6359\/5306\/files\/IMG_7570.jpg?v=1783338758","url":"https:\/\/stanzararebooks.com\/products\/mikhalkov-sergey-trans-three-little-pigs-tri-porosenka-text-and-illustrations-by-walt-disney-studio-1937-in-russian","provider":"Stanza Rare Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
