He pursued a sustained program of research on the syntactic structure of the Georgian and Kartvelian sentence: the present monograph on complex sentences in Old Georgian (1969) was followed by studies of case subordination in Kartvelian languages (1979, Metsniereba) and of simple sentence composition in Kartvelian languages (1982, Metsniereba) - a trilogy examining sentence structure across levels of complexity and across the Kartvelian language family. The Structure of Complex Sentences in Old Georgian investigates how coordinate, subordinate, and embedded clauses are constructed and linked in Old Georgian - the literary and liturgical language of the Georgian textual tradition from the fifth century onward - drawing on the canonical corpus of Old Georgian texts: hagiographic lives, biblical translations, and patristic literature produced in the Georgian monastic scriptoria of Palestine, Sinai, and Athos. The study contributes to the systematic description of Old Georgian syntax that was the central research program of the Institute of Linguistics in the 1960s-1980s, in the tradition established by Akaki Shanidze, Arnold Chikobava, and their school. \u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Stanza Rare Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44309452783658,"sku":null,"price":80.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0701\/6359\/5306\/files\/IMG_2464.jpg?v=1777892325","url":"https:\/\/stanzararebooks.com\/products\/kiziria-anton-the-structure-of-complex-sentences-in-old-georgian-rtuli-tsinadadebbis-shedgeniloba-dzv%d0%b5l-kartulshi-1969-in-georgian","provider":"Stanza Rare Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
