Its translators include Hovhannes Tumanyan (1869-1923), the foremost Armenian writer of fairy tales for children, who, according to Armenian scholarship, was once asked to translate the whole Grimm collection but chose to render only the tales he liked or considered important. Nine tales are by him, among them \"The Hut in the Forest\", \"Snow-White and Rose-Red\" and \"Hansel and Gretel\". P. Mikayelyan translated, among others, \"The Bremen Town Musicians\", the donkey, dog, cat and cockerel of the cover, and R. Mushegyan contributed a further group that includes \"The Golden Bird\", \"The Blue Light\" and \"King Thrushbeard\". The volume closes with a piece on the Grimm brothers, and it was edited by G. Virapyan and decorated by the artist A. Zakaryan. As a mass-produced Soviet Armenian children's book, it is of interest to collectors of Armenian-language literature, to students of Tumanyan's translations and of the reception of the Grimms in the Caucasus, and to collectors of Soviet children's books.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Stanza Rare Books","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":71497300476157,"sku":null,"price":40.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0701\/6359\/5306\/files\/IMG_4474_f3772532-452c-4bd2-8f7e-95f10ab461ce.jpg?v=1791462945","url":"https:\/\/stanzararebooks.com\/products\/grimm-jacob-and-wilhelm-fairy-tales-hekiatner-translated-by-h-tumanyan-p-mikayelyan-and-r-mushegyan-yerevan-1958-in-armenian","provider":"Stanza Rare Books","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
