Text block very good: clean.

This is a Russian-language survey of the performing and visual arts of Abkhazia by Aleksey Khutovich Argun, issued in Tbilisi in 1977 by the Khelovneba (Art) publishing house. The title pages are in three languages: Georgian and Abkhaz on the left, Russian on the right, while the Georgian colophon notes that the text itself is in Russian. A Brezhnev epigraph near the front states that the nations of the Soviet Union keep their features, languages and best traditions and can reach still greater flowering of their national cultures, which sets the book's tone as a presentation of Abkhaz culture within the Soviet family of peoples. The contents list nine sections: theatre, the new song of Apsny, the State Song and Dance Ensemble, the symphony orchestra, the choral chapel, choreography, the ensemble Sharatyn, fine arts and folk art. The text closes on page 145 with an account of a concert said to show the true flowering of the art of a small people. Ten leaves of plates reproduce works including a sculptural portrait by M. Eshba and a linocut by V. Gamgia from the series Triumph of October. The book was edited by V. Gunia, with artist Sh. Nioradze credited for the design of the cover and title pages, and art editor O. Goralevich. It was set on 26 August 1977, signed to press on 21 September 1977 and printed in only 2,000 copies at the Tbilisi book factory, at a price of 20 kopecks. The pocket-size volume is bound in gold metallised paper wrappers, with a small black lion emblem on the back. It will interest collectors of Abkhazian and Caucasian material, students of Soviet nationalities policy and cultural life, and those who follow the printing of Soviet Georgia.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0701/6359/5306/files/IMG_6605_cead5321-2b44-4433-a993-a755e793236a.jpg?v=1792851454
https://stanzararebooks.com/products/argun-a-art-of-abkhazia-iskusstvo-abkhazii-editor-v-gunia-artist-sh-nioradze-tbilisi-1977-in-russian
